MEETING OF THE BOAED. A meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board was held last night. There were present: Messrs. ]{. Fletcher (chairman), C. Jones, R. C. Renner, H. C. Tewsley, J. Trevor, J. E. Fitzgerald, A. H. Hindmarsh, M.P., P. C. Freolh, J. W. M'Kwan. ,T. Cobbe, A. Macfarlane, J. G. Harkness, C. E. Danicll, and L. Cohen. FINANCE. The bank pass-books showed a credit balance to current account of .£25,981, to imprest account &901, and on fixed deposit .070,000. The payments for interest sinking fund, accounts and wages totalled .£30,844, for progress payments on contract's JC1274. and for salaries .£7lO. On the recommendation of the Accounts Committee, it was decided that twenty of the board's debentures for redemption in August next (.£850,000 consolidated loan) be drawn on Monday, March i. „ CHAIRMAN'S REPORT. The chairman reported that the tender of Messrs. Donald M'Lcan and Co., for Contract No. IGS for staging from Jcrvois Quay breastwork and additions )' Taranaki Street Wharf for the sum of .£7998 Is. with Messrs. James Russell and George Winder as sureties had been accepted. That the Napier Harbour Board had terminated the charter of the Whakarire .and the dredge had arrived safely in Wellington. SUPERANNUATION. The chairman informed the board that he had received a communication from an insurance company concerning a superannuation scheme for employees of the board. This was a very important matter, and he thought the board should take further time to consider what would be the best arrangements to make. The chairman's motion that the subject be deferred for a month was carried. It was decided at the suggestion of the chairman that thu next meeting of the board be held on the afternoon of February 2S, and the chairman invited the members to meet him in tho evening.
