(From Our Special Correspondent.) « . PETONE COURT. The monthly sitting of the Petone Court was held yesterday, before Messrs. G. London and ]). Keir, J.P.s. The borough inspector proceeded against Frank Barton, circus proprietor, for erecting two tents within the; Borough of I'etone, without first obtaining written authority. Defendant, who did not appear, was ordered to pay Court costs, ".-. A prohibition order was issued against a local resident. The cases, Tegg v. Tegg, and the Borough Inspector y. George Jorgenson, were a.idourned till February 21. Jn the civil action, Short and Fraser v. Nicholas Calogares, claim Ss. due on an insurance premium, defendant was ordered to pay the full amount, with Court costs. -ANNUAL OUTING. The annual picnic in connection with St. David's Sunday School, Putone, was hold at Day's Bay yesterday. The drizzling ram did. not much alfcct'lhc attendance, and an excellent outing resulted. EVENING SPORTS. . The I'etone Junior Club continued their icrtuighlly evening sports meeting on the local recreation ground last evening. The turf was slippery, and interfered with trie high jump event. Results were as under:— IUO Yards Handicap.—First heat: Daly, Byds., 1; A. Bold, Iyds.. 2. Second heat: E. Ryan, 11yds., 1; Bale, 9yds., 2. Third heat: C. Bold, syds., 1; Collins, llyds. 2. Final: Collins. 1; Daly and A." Bold, dead heat. 2. A. very close finish. Collins only won by inches. <£ St. David's Handicap, of 110 yards,— Miller. lOyds., 1; Thomson, Byds., 2; H. Gowett, 3yds., :i. An easy win.
