KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Last evening the fortnightly meelint; of tho Karori, Borough Council mis held, in tho Borough Chambers. The following were present: The Mayor (Mr." C. Cathie), and Councillors J. A. Frost. W. T. Hildreth, W. G. Bradnock, .1. T. Worn, W. H. Kimmo, E. J. Standen, Hamilton, and B. H. G. Burn.

Tho Mayor said, in reference to a "martor in the minutes, that ho had been in communication with the Valuer-General and had been informed that a revaluation of tho borough could not lie-made this year. About .thirty applications had been received from the different boroughs and they had to be tnken in rotation. The Mayor said that it would be about September before tho valuation for tho following year would be made. In reference to workers' .tramway return tickets, the city-, electrical engineer wrote stating that workers'. tickets were ahvays accepted on cars which left Newtown at 1 p.m. It was pointed out bv Councillor Hildrclh that the car 'which left Kewtown at 1 p.m. did not go to Karori. As. an, amendment Councillor Hildrpth moved that workers' tickets should be miule available from cither terminus up to 2. p.m. Further correspondence was received.from the electrical engineer .iskihg'that for a period freight cars be allowed to.make two trips duily over the Karon' lino without charge for mileage through the borough. As it would lie j/iiiic- lime before the freight service became payable, the rcnne.'t was granted. A letter wa.s received from Mr. O. If. Fell, on behalf of (he Fairview Syndicate stating that the., roads on the Fairview Kstalo had already been taken over by the council, which was responsible for their maintenance. The syndicate had agreed to pay for maintenance for a period of six months after the. seal nf the council was affixed to thrt plan. No maintenance except Mich as was undertaken during that period, could .be, chargeable to the syndicate. "'.'The. council decided to .refer the letter, to its solicitors before taking any. action. The unsatisfactory running, of the cars gavn occasion to tho Town Clerk to write, the city electrical engineer regavdinc the matter. .
