Tho selector of tho Canterbury team (Mr. J. N. Fowke) has been'reading the members of tho team, a lesson." -He .writes t.u the "Press" as follows:—I must again complain regarding tho small attendance at practice. Tho first practice after the team was chosen was attended by six players. If this is going' to be continued, they can fully expect that there will be an alteration in -Ine team' when chosen to play against Auckland. It is the old story: as soon as tiicy are certdinties for the team they don't seem to care.- They go on the supposition that they have beaten Wellington before, sind-can do so again, but the glorious, uncertainty of , cricket may find us minus the shield, t which would be a great calomitv for Canterbury. The Wellington team that flayed against Canterbury will, ,1. hare no doubt,, be considerably..strengthened by players of-the-calibre of lien. Ticker, Jlidlane, Blacklock, Hickson, Mahoner, and Brice. Wellington have fairly considered that, having made a vespectablo tight .without 'these players, with their inclusion they may, just about win; and rightij; so., too,.when they nave such'a very tine bowler as. Saunders, who . was practically considered ono of Australia's finest-left-hand bowlers." ■ f ' A DSTE ALIAN TOUE FINANCE, liy Telesra,ph—Press Association.! Christchuroh, January 23.
