MR. H. B. IRVING'S SEASON.
BOX PLANS OPEN THIS MOK XING. At the Dresden this morning at nine o'clock the box plans will be opened for the first fix niglifs of Air. H. B. Irving's season, which commences at the Opera Houic on Saturday night next, when ho. will be presented ljy the J.- C. son.'Ltd., management in "Hamlet." A queue will be formed by a staff of ushers from 8 o'clock. 'Personality counts for a great.deal on the sil-age, and it- is possession of-t his important and wonderful characteristic., it is said; that endows Air. 11.-B. Irving's representations with the distinctiveness and individuality that makes them stand out boldly lind strikingly..., His "Hamlet" as described as a .portrait—a real human figure, that is made all' llie -mare real anil vivid by, the colouring of the-actor's own, personality. The subtle spell of personality, it is stilted, couuled - with . the actor's own genius, makes his impersonation of "Hamlet" something to be remembered. It is said to be a different' Hamlet to all others, and were a dozen other actors to play t.lic part before Mr'. Irving, the interest in this actor-and his hold on the audience would in lio decree, be lessened. Mr. 11. B. Trvi:\s follows in the footsteps of his father in more Hum one direction. Not only ir he keeping up the' reputation of the name by, his interpretations of the various characters lie as->umes, but. lie personally supervises the plays-in which he appears. This wa-S also done by Sir Henry living. Miss Dorothea Baird, who .will be, remembered as being the original Trilby in London, will make hel' debut here n.- Ophelia, her interpretation of which .earned :her lavish praises front Australian critics- Mr. Henry Vibart. who appears as the Ohost, and Mr. I'rank Tyais as King Claudius, both .supported Sir Henry li ving in many of his greatest triumph-, whilst the other members of the organisation were in'the T.omlon' cast .of "Hamlet." • Judging by the great demand made on the plans in Auckland ami other centres it would be wise for intending bookers not to delay in. securing their seats.
