SHOW MATTERS—PAST AND FUTURE There was not a largo .attendance at last week's liicetin.;: of the WniniKtpa and East Const Pastoral and Agricultural Association's meeting, members boiiig compelled to inako use of the fine day to advance their harvesting. The siib-commit-tee were called together to revise tire list of judges as arranged by the Agricultural Societies' Conference, and made a few additions to some of the nominations. The General Committee decided that the recommendations and suggestions made by tho stewards for tho improvements thought advisable for the conduct of the sfcow had T>c-tter be considered by tho Ground Committee first, and to bo reported on by them later. A letter was read hom tho Chief Veterinarian, stating that nil exhibit would probably be made at the next show, and also intimating that a lecture on veterinary matters would be given the day after the show. Various judges of stock at the late show wrote giving their expenses as prizes for the next show, and votes of thanks were passed, and appreciation expressed of their kindness. , A valuable trophy had been promised from a firm of jewellery manufacturers ; n Wellington, who wrote ai!;ing for particulars of class to bo awarded to, for engraving. The letter was referred to the Programme C'ommitt'H l . Twenty-two new members were elected, and live resignations were received. The financial statement showed a debit balance of j;(iG2 lfi~. Id., with .fclDO to the collected ill subscriptions, donations, and entry fees. Tim treasurer (Mr. G. W. Dcller) read a statement showiiy the comparison of the last three shows, in profit: and loss, which disclosed the fact that i lie 1!H I show had been more successful than the two previous qnes, in spite of tho wet weather, and the statement proved very encouraging to members. The. president referred in grateful terras to the valuable help afforded by members ill putting the show grounds iii order before last show, and also in clearing up afterwards. Tt was resolved to conduct the smoke concert for next show on better lines, and to endeavour to get a larger attendance of the Wairarapa public at the function. Members present did not feel disposed to subscribe to the publications issued'by the International Institute of Agriculture, but the Journal issued by the Departi ment. of Agriculture vas referred to by ! Mr. Buchanan, and members were advised i to read it, as it contai»wd very valuable information i'or farmers, from which they < could reap profit in the attention they ■ devoted to their soils and pastures.
