A MOVEMENT IN THE NORTH. While the manufacture of c.asein has been token up in various parts of the world, little headway has been made with it in New Zealand iso far. One firm has been doing something in this direction in Wanganui, and, it is stated, with successfui results. It appears, however, that a move is afoot to go much deeper into the business. The Wanganui company which has been producing casein is said to bo turning out some CO or 70 tons, and, according to a recent visitor, the company intends building a big factory this year. According to our informant, an expensive plant has been ordered from Germany, and the firm has engaged the services of n German casein expert. It is also stated that the firm intend* erecting a factory in the centre of Taranaki, where the manufacture of casein will be undertaken also.
