IMPRESSIONS OF TRENTHAM.
BY MB. It. H. LEVIEN, M.L.A. Members of the New South Wales Totalisator Commission leave for Christchurch to-night. Mr. l\. H. Lcvieu, M.L.A., president of the Commission, had a good word to say for the management of (he Wellington t Cup meeting on Saturday. He thinks, s however, that .there should be totter •. facilities for handling the money at the i, tolalisator. In his opinion, it is espeeis ally desirable .that the paying of diviI, dends should be promptly carried out il after each race, and every club should s have adequate accommodation for this i- branch of the business, Jlr. Levien also I sees muck in favour of a double totall- isatcr from the point of view lof the racing public. Ail notices respecting a >. race, particularly the draw for positions, i- should be plainly shown in a eonspicue ous place, so that backers and the public P generally will not require to jostle one >- another, or strain their eyes, or craue i- their necks to .read what is written, i As for the Trentham course itself, Mr. n Levien sees' muck' improvement in it '■ since his last, visit, and remarks that it " must be a capital course to work horses u on. '' The Commissioners' stay in Wellington has, he says, been made most pleasant , e owing to the eourtosy extended to them II by Mr. J. B. Harcourt (president), Mr, c A. E. Whyto (secretary), and the other ® officials of the Wellington Racing Club.
