ANOTHER VALUABLE SHIPMENT. Another valuable shipnJint of live stock from tho Old Country has just beon arranged for by Messrs. \V. J. Birch and Son, of 4:Erewhon" Station, Moawhango. The stock, which is to leave London lor Wellington early next month in tho New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Reinuera, comprises a polled augus bull, two North Devon cows in calf, a Romney ram,, and two Romney ewes in lamb. The polled augus bull is "l'rido of Aberdeen lUlith," irom Lord ltosebery's "Dalmeny>liord. Ho is only a yearling, and was entered for 'the group prize at Perth in February. It is stated that it was with great reluctance that Mr. M'Laren, the manager, was induced to part with him, as ho was very keen on winning that prize, which ho could not hope to do without him. The prico asked was 300 guineas. It was still more reluctantly that Mv. M'Laren agreed to accept 250 guineas, but in the knowledge that a good calf going from Dalmeny to New Zealand might in future have its reward, ho gave way in tho matter. The two North Devon cows are for Mr. W. J. Birch, of Thoresby, and como in addition to tho bull and two cows imported a fow months ago. They are both from the herd of Mr. Monro, of Highficld, St. Albans. Highliold Ladybird and Highfield Snowdrop are exceptionally fine cows, both by the splendid old bull Lord Brassoy. Tlio Romney ram is just about 12 months old. 110 is from Mr. (jucstead's llock, and picked from animals specially selected by liim for show next season. The two ewes aro from Mr. Rigden's flock. Mr. Questead won most of the principal prizes at tho shows last year. Mr. W. C. Uirch, who has been on a visit to England, has been at considerable trouble in selecting the animals and has spared no pains in visiting the best herds of polled aDgus both in England and Scotland. Ho is himself returning to New Zealand by tho s.s. Remuera with the stock.
