THE WELLINGTON TROOPS.
DISTRICT ORDERS. District Orders by Colonel E. W. Chaytor, Officer Commanding the Wellington Military District, include the following announcements:— Owing to tho fact that many officers could not present themselves for examination for promotion in November last, and to give those who failed at that examination a chance to sit again,; a spccial examination for promotion will be held in March, on tho third Tuesday. In future, examinations for promotion will bo held in the third Tuesday in February and August instead of May and November, commencing next August. ' The name of Lieutenant H. M. W. Richardson, officer, No. 5 area group, is substituted for that of Captain A. H. Rassam as a signing and issuing officer. The following amendments to the regulations for tho New Zealand Military
Forces aro published for general information Appendix 1, establishments of the New Zealand Military Forces, Section G, "A Company of Field Engineers:" Page 122: —1. After the words "company-sergeant-major," in column of detail, delete "(a)"; 2, under column of remarks, delete tho whole of sub-paragraph "(b)." Tho following daily rates of pay for troops while in camp have been approved as from January 13: — Lieutenant-colonels, 155.; majors, 125.; captains, 10s.; lieutenants and 2nd lieutenants, Bs.; sergeants-majors and staffsergeants, ss. Cd.; sergeants, 55.; corporals, 4s. Cd.; other ranks, 4s.
