(From Our Special Corresrondcnt.) ■ « The monthly meeting of the Potone District High School was held last ovening, and was attended by Messrs. M'Kenzie (chairman), Cox, Abrahall, Howson, Kirk, Burd, and the liov. A. Thomson. On the recommendation of tho Works Committee, it was resolved to carry out certain repairs to tho school buildings. A donation of Jjl 10s. was passed to the Petone Salvation Army band tor services Tendered at the picnic. The chairman moved tho following resolution"That this District High School Committee urges the Minister for Education to amend tho Technical School codo so as to include (wherever practicable) that tho apprentices of any trade or calling, shall attend a technical day school, and receive tho latest instruction and knowledge pertaining to their avocation, whether it be in commerce, industry, or science, for two half days during each

ireek. Such shall as actual time and form part of the apprenticeship. "(2) That it bo a recommendation from this committee to the Government to confirm and allow all apprentices in tho various Departments of tho State to comply with this resolution. (3) That trade schools, for the training of our boys and girls, aro much wanted, and would be of great bench t. This coji be effected by broadening the scope of our technical day schools, by spreading learning and disseminating technical knowlcdgo to those who wish to obtain proper instruction." Mr. Cox secondod tho motion. The chairman said that it was not necessary to speak to the motion at any length, but ho would like to say that such proposals as were suggested would reduce the over-strain on young miuds. Tho Rev. Mr. Thomson said that ho was quito in sympathy with the spirit of tho motion, but ho was afraid that employers would oppose it. After a brief discussion, tho motions were carried. A copy is to be sent to tho Primo Minister, the Minister for Eduejitiou, and tho Minister for Labour.
