NUMEROUS FATALITIES. GREAT DAMAGE. lIEAYY SNOWFALL: TRAINS DELAYED. London, Jannary 18. A gale has been raging over Great Britain. Numerous fatalities are reported, and there bus been much damage to harbour works and shipping. A German .steamer was wrecked on Goodwin Sands. The Raniagnto lifeboat gallantly rescued twenty of those on Ixiard. A large unknown steamer was seen to turn turtle ami founder o!T Peterhead, a seaport town of Aberdeenshire. There wils. a terrific galo at tho time, and it was impossible to render help to tho crew. There are othier wrecks'on all parts of the coast. A lifeboat followed the Haiti Line Company's stoamer Wistow Hall, 3313 tons, for five hours. Tho tide was like a maelstrom, and dashed the Wistow Hall on the Bullors of Buchan rocks, five miles S.S.W. of Peterhead, where the sea dashes with great force into tho Bullors, or boilers, a natural cave in a granite cliff. Four of the crew, including tho captain, were saved. Fifty-threo, mostly Lascars, were drowned. Theio has been a snowfall lasting 36 hours in tho Midlands. Trains wore seriously daktyed. Toils of bait were used to thaw tht weight of ice coating the wires, which in many localities dragged the poles down. Fifteen thousand miners aro idle at Cannockohase, owing to the difficulty in moving railway trucks.
