The report that Trench, an Englishman, who, with Brandon, another Eng- ' lishman, was sentenced in December, charge of espionage, had attempted to 1910, to four years' confinement on a commit suicido in tho fortress at Glatz, whero he is imprisoned, has not yet been [ confirmed. Increased precautions have been taken, including thie erection of insurmountable ' barbed wire barriers. 1 Tho German War Office alleges that it had knowledge that Trench had mado plans to escapo. Commandant Glatz states that Trench's . attempt to commit suicide was due to the ! belief that he wcuid not bo permitted to continue in tie army after his release. TWO MORE SPIES, i Berlin, January 18. A Russian lieutenant named Vinogradorff has been kntenccd to three years' detention in a fortress, and an Austrian lieutenant named Vonserno to three years' imprisonment at Leipzig, for espionage in the interests of Russia.
