C. E. Stone, of St. George's Bowing Club, who has held the title of amateur champion sculler of New Zealand for the past three . years, will arrive ■ here i'rom Auckland by tho Tavawera to-day. He v ill defend his title at the New Zealand Championship Regatta, to be held on Lake ffaihola on February 7. ytone has competed for the championship on three occasions, and won.it-each time—the first at Mercer,' the second at: Picton, and the third at Wanganui. This season he lis Towing tetter than ever before, with a. more finished style, and getting more .pace out of his boat. He has been training hard for about a month, and is in splendid condition. ■■
