ONSLOW BOROUGH COUNCIL.

■ 4 MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was held last night, the Mayor 1 (Mr. Prank Holdsworth) presiding. There were also present: Councillors 13. Lynneberg, J. C. Gardner, It. W. Dingwall, C, Aplin.'jun., G. "W. Darvall, W. H. Bowden, and Captain C. M'Arthur. In regard to the water-meters in Kaiwarra, the Borough Engineer (M'r. U. S. Hountlnvaite) reported that he had mado an inspection of all these, and had' found them for the most part in a most unsatisfactory condition,' a largo number being clogged up with dirt, while no fewer than ]3 were broken, without dials, or covers, or pointers. It was very doubtful if any of them made anything like an accurate lecord of the water consumed. Ho advised lhat, in all cases whore he had noted that meters required attention and . overhauling, notice l>3 served requiring tho necessary repairs to te effected within fourteen days, failing which the council either cut off the supply or employ a competent person to do these repairs and charge the cost to the owner. —Tho r>port was adopted. It was decided to enforce the 10 per cent, penalty on rates outstanding after February IG, 1912, and also on Kaiwarra drainage instalments after February 20, 1912. ' On the recommendation of the Public Works Committee, Mr. Heggarty's proposal to lease portion of the catchment reserve was agreed to. A letter was received from tho City Council re their proposed drainage scheme covering tracings of amended line of sewer and proposed position of septic tank at Kaiwarra.—The letter was held ov<;r for further consideration. Mr. A. E. I'earce forwarded provisional plan of road on the estate of tho late Alexander Cameron, Kaiwarra.—The plan was referred to tho Public Works Commutes. Tho District Pund account, .£7GG 5«. . Bd., and the Khandollah Public Hall Loan Account, .EGO!) 9s. 3d., were passed for payment. !
