Ilulhird and Young, M.l'.'s, will be the gaols of the evening. Canon I'ascor, vicar of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Avonsido, has resigned his charge, owing to failing health. He has the second longest record of service in the diocese of Christehuroh, having begun his ministrations at Waimatc in 1871. He has been vicar of Avunside since 1880. —Press Association. Mr. !•'. M. B. Fisher, M.P., will return to Wellington from Huwkc's Bay to-day. Colonel E. W. C. Chaytor, Officer Commanding tho Wellington District, is to meet (he senior cadet officers of the city and suburban corps at tho Garrison Hall this evening, for a talk about various matters connected with the training of the cadets. Mr. 'J'. D. Taylor, editor and manager of tho "Pelorus Guardian," hits just been offered, and has accented, tho cditormaiiagership of the "Fiji Times." Messrs. G. Stratford, W. C. Hyde, J. Ij. Williams, and J. 11. Thorp hare been appointed inspectors of orchards for the purposes of the Orchard and Garden Diseases Act, 1008, Mr. John C. Brown lias been appointed a member of the Board of Examiners under Die Coalmines Act, vice Mr. Jonathan Dixon, deceased. Dr. A. A. Macfarlane, M.8., has been appuinted Port Health Officer at Hokianga, vice. Dr. Forrest. Mr. W. G. Itiddell, S.M., is at present absent from Wellington on holiday leave.
