POULTRY FARMING.
WORLD'S CONGRESS I'iiOI'OSEI). The editor of the "S.'A. Poultry Journal," Mr. J. I). Merrctt, has received a communication relative to a World's I'oultry Congress. The promoters, in asktug Mr. Merrctt to serve on the I'lo|t visional Committee, stale:—"At, the meeting of tho American Association of Jn- • structors and Investigators in Poultry Husbandry, held at Oronu, Maine, in August last, a general plan was approved for the promotion of a world-wide orgauii- satiou of persons, societies, and repreio sentatives of institutions interested in the it dissemination or acquisition of kuowi- ledge respecting cither tlio science or art y, of poultry husbandry, these words being ir construed in the widest, sense.' Tile '' success which has attended (lie American n Association during its short history, the '" rapid advances made by the poultry in— *' dustry throughout, the civilised world, 0 the essential importance of bringing together or into closer contact all those who are engaged in this work, and focussing the vast amount of knowledge and experience which is being obtained, is a justification for making the attempt to found an international association embracing all the civilised countries of the i- world. As a first step towards such an o organisation, it lias seemed desirable to r form, if possible, a Provisional Coinmitn lee of International Organisation, ou '■- which there would be one or more representatives from each country where anything is being done in the way of teaching or research iu poultry 'husbandry. When in operation, each country wouid appoint its own representatives" on the permanent committee, but at the outset it is necessary to form a provisional „ committco by invitation, to hold office | until the association is in being. It is proposed that a mooting shall be held in . London, soy, iu June or July, 1912. at ,! which the details shall he discussed, a ~ constitution adopted, and a plan of proft ccdure formulated. This meeting will be t for tho provisional committee, as it is j felt that those who ore at tho foundation ~ of such an association must meet too gether and discuss the various questions n which will arise. It is hoped that as e one result of such an international assoh ciation from time to time world's poultry o congresses may be held."
