FREEZING IN THE SOUTH.

'The quantify being slaughtered weekly does m.it exceed JflOO, which is very low for the time of the year; under ordinary circumstances 300(1 daily should be put through. Thisisattrilnitableio theooiitiuiiotis rain, which has kept the lambs back. However, the projects are considered good, but the season will be n prolonged one. The quality of the lambs slaughtered is reported as being prime, but not heavy. The Waiaii correspondent of I he Christchurch "Press" stales that fat lamb buyers arc losing no opportunity of securing any lambs that farmers may have ready for freezing. They are visiting Ihe district regularly, and appear to be satisfied if they secure a few trucks on each trip. Unless the lambs are prime, (he farmers do not fi'cm anxious to quit fliem nn account of the great abundance of feed and the beiief that prices will remain firm.
