Admiral King-Hall, in command of the Australasian Squadron, in addressing the bluejackets, said that in the days to come there would be a very extensive ComraonIth, which would depend on the policy and prowess of her naval forces.. There was an urgent necessity in making tho first line of defence so efficient and ready that when the time of testing it came, if ever it did come, the Australian Navy would be ready to take its place in line with tho fleets of the Old Country in the defence of the shores of Australia.
