The "Daily Telegraph's" Madrid correspondent states .that King Alfonso, in an . interview, stated that Saturday and Sunday were terrible days. He and the Queen could think of nothing except the wretched man in tho prison chapel awaiting his execution. . Finally ho decided to assume the responsibility of pardoning Cuqueto, and '• telephoned the Premier (Senor Canalejas) to that effect.
