The monthly meeting of the Mastertoi Borough Council was held last evening The librarian reported the number o books in the library to be 6020, and tin number of subscribers 311. The Enginee submitted n detailed statement of th work in progress in the town. A deputa tion from the Wairarapa Amateur Swim ming Club waited upon the council ii reference to charges for use of the park etc. Consideration of the representation made was hold over until next meeting. The Finance Committee of the Wni rarapa District Hospital Board met yes tcrdny, -Mr. E. G. Eton presiding. Tin treasurer presented a statement of balance in the respective accounts. The Martin borough Ambulance Committee intimate! that the ambulance biougbam had com to hand. A recommendation in regar; to the office administration was unani mously approved, and is to be presentee at the next board meeting. ■ At the monthly meeting of the Master ton Hospital Committee, held on Tuesday the treasurer reported a credit balanc at date of JC345 3s. Id. The medical office of the Hospital (Dr. Archer Hosking waited upon the committee and com plained that the nursing staff was in sulliciout. The question was held over fo consideration at a special meeting on Jam) ary 30, when matters in connection wit] the purchasing of X-rays apparatus fo the Hospital will also be considered. At a meeting of the Masterton Fir Brigade, it was decided to send a dele gate to the U.F.B.A. Conference at lfc torua on March It.
