Negotiations, have been completed for tho purchase of the vacant section opposite the "Chronicle" office, Pctone Avenue, by a syndicate who propose building an up-to-dnto theatre. The architect has been appointed, and plans of the proposed edifice are in course of preparation, it is . the intention of the syndicate to provide picture entertainments, provision being made in the specifications for tho bousing of the latest kinematograph machinery obtainable. Within a few days the plans will be completed. '! PERSONAL. Mr. Wm. Sussex, late organiser, for tho Hutt Valley No-License Leiigue, has pnrchased_ a blacksmith's business in Palmerston North, and will leave for that town next Thursday. Last night Mr. Sussex was, tendered a farewell "social" by the congregation of tho Pctone Wesley Church, and was presented with a liandsomo set of books, Mrs. Sussex was'the . recipient of a silver-mounted handbag. Cottio wrote offering, tho same rental, ,S2G per year, for the grazin" rights,—Accepted. , ° The acting-city engineer (in reply to a communication) stated that all available spoil from the new ro;id or water main would be required for road formation, but, if there was any to spare, it should be placed at the committee's disposal.— Received. ■ • .The Petoiie -Wesley Sunday Schcol were granted the, hse, of the I'ark for picnic purposes next Monday. ... The Lower Hutt Borough Council forwarded a cheque for MH 18s. 5(1., as balance of donation for the current year,! and for general purposes." The Waiwotu Golf C-lub forwarded ,a cheque for .CIO as balance for rent for the past season. The treasurer's report showed ,-tho credit balance'to April 1, 1911, to be .£lO 3s. Id.; receipts to date, A'A'Si 18s. lid.; expenditure't6 date, <8290 Is. Id.; leaving a credit balance up to January 1G of UiGS 18s. 2d.—The. report was adopted. On the motion qf't.lic chairman it wa,s resolved to notify tho Gracctield Syndicate that 'the boundary i'eiice (according to the Fencing Act) tin. the , eastern side of the Waiwetu River must bo erected by tho syndicate. '
