MIRAMAR COUNCIL.
$ _ Owing to want of a quorum Inst Thursday evening, the usual meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was postponed until last evening. Those present were: Tho Mayor (Mr. J. Brodie), and Councillors Kichards, Tolford, Stone, Laurenson, and the town clerk, Mr. Bennett. A letter was received from the Miramar Sports Carnival Committee asking what assistance the council could grant in connection with the gathering.—lt was to grant tin i.ommitteo one-third of tho tram fares collected. Wednesday, January 31, is Hie day on which a poll of ratepayers will bo tnlten in connection with the special loan of ',£IB,OOO for electrical purposes. A meeting iof ratepayers will l>o held on Friday) I January 26, at which the proposals will be discussed. It was decided to invite applications for the position of Borough Engineer. A communication was received |frntn: the Defence Department, in which it ivas notified that the Department hail decided to agree to tho council's terms in regard to the supply of water.
