GERMAN ELECTIONS.
:—f SOCIALIST HOPES. 189 SECOND BALLOTS. By Telecraph-Presa Aesocia'ion-Copyrlcht Berlin, January 14. The second ballots total one hundred and eighty-nine. The Socialists are interested in 11", and the Radicals in fifty-three. The Socialists hope to win forty of tho seats. They claim to have gained 57,000 votes in Berlin, and an increased vote in the provinces of thirty-two per centum. Tho Socialists' successes are largely at the expense of tho Radicals and National Liberals. Much depends on the bargains for mutual support in the second ballots. The Catholic Centre Party is unshaken at present. CONGRATULATIONS. London, January 14. Mr. Ramsay Macdonald, Labour M.P. for Leicester, has telegraphed to the German Socialists: "Congratulations from the British Labourites. Good news; all friends for international solidarity and peace."
