MOTUEKA FRUIT CROPS.
NOT AS HEAVY AS LAST SEASON. _ A Wellington business man interested in tho fruit industry, who has just returned from a visit to Motueka, states that tho fruit season is being hold up for several weeks owing to tho Into rains. At the present time, it is ' stated,, tho crops do not indicate as heavy bearing as was .given last year. All the formed fruit, however, is of very good quality, and should come in in really first-class 'order. The crop of ■ early varieties of peaches is a medium one, and tho quality is good. There is also a medium crop of black currants of good quality. The prospects for early varieties of plums, aro said to be excellent, and some of the plums are being marketed already. In tho apple orchards Quarehdon's aro practically ready for picking, and their quality is excellent. Generally speaking, there will not be as heavy a prop of apples this year as thore was last year. Raspberries are coming in very late, but it is anticipated that the crop will turn out a fair average one. Capo gooseberries aro stated to bo looking well, and tho prospect of a good hop crop is bright.
