—: j, . GIVES NOTICE OF RESIGNATION. The Anglican Bishop of Nelson (Dr. Mulc3), has, states a Press Association telegram from Nelsvii, Milt to the Bishop of Cliristchureli, Acting-Primate, notice of his desire to resign the Nelson See, and to retire from his duties on June ,10. It was staled, in Tun Dominion - some months ago that Bishop Mules intended to retire at an early date, but that announcement was followed by n Press Association telegram to the ellcct that the Bishop wished it known that the statement appeared "without authority from the person immediately concerned. Tho Right Rev. Charles Oliver Mules, DID,, is Uie eldest son of tho Rev. T. If. Mules, vicar of llminstcr, Somerset, and was born at liminster in 183". He was educated at liminster Grammar School from 18tG to 1852, and at Cheltenham College from 1552 to 185 C. He then went up to Trinity College, Cambridge,' where ho graduated B.A. (senior optiuie) in ISCO, ond M.A. in 1803. In 18C3 he also received tho degree of M.A.' at Oxford. He was ordained deacon in ISGI, ami pvi-ost in 18G5. Ho was curate of Whorlton, Countv Durham, from 1864 to 1805, and of Stradlwoke, Suffolk, from 1805 to 1800. He then wont out to New Zealand, and became incumbent of Brightwator, with Waimca, which living he held till IS'.ll He was chaplain to Dr. Sutcr, Bishop of Nelson, from 1809 to ISII2, and Archdeacon of YV'nimea from 1881) to fS!I2. He was coii--pcr.it. Ed Bishop of Nelson on February 24, 1802, in St. Paul's Pro-Onlheirrai, Wellington. His jurisdiction covers (he north of the Soulh Island of New fcaliind, an area of 20,000 syiuirc miles. Tlic Bishop married in IS7O the daughter of Captain F. 11. Blumlell, late 11th Light Dragoons.
