Particulars as to the sections and ■ the draw were given to the players at last evening's social. HARBOUR TRIP. j On Friday evening- the . Wellington Bowling Club ore to entertain' visiting bowlers and their wives at a harbour trip on the Duchess, and if the weather is < amenable to reason the outing should be a' particularly enjoyable one. Supper will ba provided on hoard, and a musical programme is being prepared. BOWLERS' "AT HOME." \ Sociability is the dominant characteris* tic of tho howler. Not satisfied with being together tho whole day, foe many days, they love to get together of an evening, and tell each oilier how they did or did' not do it during' the day. Last evening the Northern Bowling Association entertained the visiting-bowlers at an "at home" in the Concert Chamber. The floor of (.ho hall was fully occupied by some 400 bowlers, while upstairti the ladies looked down complacently through u haze of smoke on their lords and masters. Mr. Janice Keith, (president of tho Northern Bowling Association) 'occupied the chair, and proposed tho health of "The King." The toast of the Northern Bowling Association was proposed in felicitous terms by Mr. Macdougall, of Chri.stchurch, who made sympathetic references to the pending rapprochement between the two bowling bodies. In replying. Mr. Keith said that a year ago in Auckland ho had made bold to prophesy that twelve mouths hence all bowlers would be sailing under the ' one (lap. This wsw tho twenty-first anniversary of the birth of the Northern Bowlin , : Association, and before it wan ended he felt sure that tho Northern Association would be a filing of the past, and that they would all be enlisted in the Doiniuion Bowling Association. (App]|UlsoO :'MVh Slaurioe Casey,.of. Auckland (vice--president),' proposed the toast of the New Zealand Bowling Association, which was happily responded to by Mr. Chas. Payne/of Duuedin. The "Ladies" and the" "Press" were also honoured. A capital musical programme was presented under the direction of Mr, E. J. . Hill. The performers were Messrs. R. Robertson, If. Marks. Northcote,. Geo. Parsons, B. Gardner, Captain Sterens, E. J. Hill, H. N: Fletcher, A. W. Newton, and D. A..Kenny. Tho secretary requests us to state that he will be at the Wellington Green at 7.45 a.m. fo that skips who have not re* ceived their drawings may ring him up and find out the grounds on which they are to play.
