Brewster, late of the Swifts and Wellington Amateur Swimming Clubs, convened a meeting to consider. the formation of a swimming club. At the meeting it was resolved to form a club, to bo called tho Coronation Amateur Swimming Club. A strong comniiifceo was elected, and about forty members intimated thoir intention of becoming members. The baths, which are 76 feat long and 40 feet wide, are to be opened next Wednesday. Ik is proposed to hold a carnival in three weeks' time, and to ask swimmers from Wellington to compete. Swifts and Old Boys were pitted against each other at the Te Aro Baths last evening. Swifts were the attacking party in the - early part of the match, Dut Capper (Old Boys), irom the loose, caused turmoil in .- the ranks of the Swifts team by intercepting and swimming clear, put on the first goal. Old Boys, 1; Swifts, 0. Wilmott evened natters shortly afterwards for Shifts,by clever manoeuvring, and a shot by Jenkinson for the same team was only slopped by clever play. From tho rebound, however, Wilton put it through and tho Swifts were leading by 2—l. Duigan evened up for tho Old Boys with assistance from Levy and tho tally, with only a minute to go was 2—2. From a "corner" Wilton essayed a pass to Jenkinson arid the latter , managed the business by putting in a warm shot, and with tho whistle sounding-Swifts were winners by B—2,- Mr. Sommcrvillo was the referee.
