THE WEATHER.
— - SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications are for moderate to strong south-easterly winds in the north, and variable eastorly and northerly winds in the South Island. The weather is likely to bo changeable generally and unsettled at times in tho northern and southern districts and on the West Coast of the South Island. A falling barometer is probable southwards of Farewell Spit and Castlepoint, but unsteady at present elsewhere. Changeable weather has prevailed, scattered showers falling in the night, but conditions improving to-day. Southeasterly and easterly winds havo predominated strong to gale in the North Island last night. The barometer has fallen in the southern districts. B. V. PEMBERTON. Meteorological Office, Wellington, January 10, 1912. DISTRICT REPORTS. (From Our Special Correspondents.) Wango,nui, January 10.—Cloudy morning; beautiful afternoon; light easterly breeze. Palmerston, January 10.—Fine; light wind. Otaki, January 10—Bright sunshine. Featherston, January 10.—Overcast; southerly wind. Cartorton, January 10.—The weather continues fine, although tho sky is overcast, with indication for rain, A light shower fell just hefore noon.
