METHODIST CHURCH
QUARTERLY MEETING. On Monday evening the quarterly meeting of the Board of Management of the I'aranaki Street Church was held, the Rev. J. G. Chapman presiding. A very encouraging report, which revealed that very satisfactory work was being done by all the agencie3 of the Church in the circuit, was presented by tho circuit stewards. The balance-sheet showed nearly -C 43 to credit on the quarter's working. Pleasure was expressed at tho increasing interest of the people, and the work of the Rev. J. G. Chapman, especially in the pulpit, was highly commended. Reports received concerning the Tory and Aro Street missions were- of a very satisfactory character. Owing to Jho urgent necessity for increased school accommodation at Aro Street, immediate steps are U ba taken to provide same. Harvest thanksgiving services are :to be held in February. Mr. W. H. Bennett was reappointed Sunday School visitor for the ensuing year, and Messrs. W. E. Redstone and C. J. Clark were unanimously reappointed circuit stewards to their -positions for another year. Tt is expected that the Methodist Union will be consummated at the coufereuce to be held at Wellington in 1913. A strong resolution was carried protesting against the action of the Canterbury quarterly meetings endeavouring to arnvnss that tho conference should meet in Christchnrch in 1013, Wellington having a. prior claim. The delegates to the conference—Messrs. Tiller and Clarkwere urged to protest. Messrs. BciHon and Raine were elected substitute representatives to the conference.
