SNOWSTORMS IN BRITAIN. Bj Telegraph—Prats Aeeociattoß-flonyrieil (Rec. January 9, 10.25 p.m.) London, January 9. There havo been Bevero snow storms in (Scotland and tho North of England. Heavy stock losses in Derbyshire are reported.
THE DEATH-ROLL IN AMERICA. New York, January 8. The death-roll owing to the cold weather is seventeen. Tho cold wave extends across the Continent to the Pacific Coast, the country being snow-covered. Wires aro down in all directions, and bains are stationary in tho Rockies. There is a general dislocation of traffic in nil cities north of tho fortieth parallel.
