THEIR MAJESTIES IN INDIA.

CALCUTTA EN FETE. Uy TolesTaiih-Pretß Atsociation-Oepyrlcht Calcutta, January 7. In tho presence of half a million people in tho maidan their Majesties King George and Queen Mary witnessed pageants, the first of which represented tho Mohammedan New Year's Day procession of Nurshidabad of a hundred years ago, and tho second a procession of Hindu Dasahara princes from thirty States. These contributed to the spectacle, which took an hour to pass a given point, and which included 57 elephants and 35 camels.

There was indescribable popular enthusiasm, in spite of the fears to the contrary owing to the removal of the capital.

The city was splendidly illuminated.
