All the Ministers are in town to-day, the Ron. A. T. Ngata having returned by the Napier express last evening. Sir Joseph Ward proposes to leave shortly, accompanied by Lady Ward and Jliss Ward, for a three weeks' holiday in the Taupo district. The Hon. T. Mackenzie intends to leave on 'Wednesday for the south, in order to visit Hanmer Sanatorium.

The Anglican Archbishop of Sydney and Primate of Australia (Dr. Wright) will sail for New Zealand early in February on a month's holiday tour.—Press Association.

The passenger-list of the Somerset, which arrived in the stream yesterday, totalled 261-205 in the third-class, 17 in the first-class, and 39 assisted passengers. Mr. A. A. S. Dauby, the. immigration officer, states that the immigrants are of a very good class, and include domestic servants, farm labourers, carpenters, iron-moulders, and miners. There are also a number o£ farmers who have paid tlmr own way, as well as six wives, who have come out to rejoin their husbands.

Lieut.-Colonel J. T. Burnett-Stuart, D.5.0., Director of Military Operations and Intelligence at General Headquarters, and at present in command of the Canterbury military district, left for" Christchurch last evening.

A very old identity in the person of Mr. Thomas M'Kay died on Saturday evening in his 103 rd year, states a Press Association telegram from Napier, Hβ was born at Paisley, Scotland, and was a son of Captain Win. Gordon M'Kav killed in the Battle of Waterloo. Deceased lived during the reign of six British Sovereigns, and until the end retained an excellent memory of the stirring events which happened during his long life.

Mr. Alfred William Gyles leaves Wanganui for AVellington to-day, by the New Plymouth express. Ho has been spending a few days' holiday motoring with his mother and sister, Mrs. G. I'. Gutelli, eiuco taking part in the chess congress at Napier. Hd will spend a few days at Wellington, en roiito for Westport.

Lieut.-C'olone] Hughes, of Wanganui, arrived in Wellington last night. He is in the city on business hi connection with the New Zealand annual rifle meetin? next month, and goes out to Trenthani to-day.

Mr. Fred. Pirani went through to Christchurch last night to attend a conference of the Newspaper Proprietors' Executive.
