' (By Teleeraph.—Sijcrial Correspondent.) Wanganui, January 8. Farmers are taking advantage of the fine spell which set in last week to burn off their felled bush, and the skyline inland is broken by columns of heavy smoke. Mr. Bushcroft, of tho Collegiate School staff, has been appointed curate of St. Matthew's, Masterlon, and takes up duty at Easter. . The Wanganui County Council is considering tho matter of bringing the whole of the county roads under its own control by the abolition of the five road boards which hold subordinate jurisdic-. tion under tho council. A conference of representatives of the council ami the road boards concerned will be held shortly to discuss the matter.
