COCKSFOOT AND RYE.
Several farmers in tho Mannwatn district aro growing cocksfoot grass for seed this year, nnd, so far, it, is reported the crops promise well and prospects are good. Ihose farmers in'fhe Sandon district who put down:ryo for seed have not been so fortunate A large area has been sown in tho district, and it came on well, but just before the time for cutting, heavy winds 'and rain "laid" many of the crop's badly, and tho 'harvest will not ho as good as it woiild have been but for this set-back.
