PLAIN TALK FROM HIS SIDE. ■ Sir Joseph Ward lias not .vol niado his anticipated statement in regard to tho political situation, Questioned last evening, (ho Mine Minister replied that he had no announcement to make, and ho gave no indication as to when his lengthy silenco was likely to bo broken. A statement «as recently published in Dunedin that a certain member of the Opposition had been offered by Sir Joseph Ward a place in a reconstructed Ministry. The portfolios o£ Railways and Education were mentioned in this connection. Sir Joseph Ward, on Saturday, said that the published statement had no foundation in fact. Ho had neither diicctly nor indirectly approached,any momber of tho Opposition in tho way suggested. Ho said, however, that it was quite true that he. had had a confidential interview with Mr. Veitch, member for Wanganui, but tho portfolio of Railways was never oven discussed between them.
