BOWLS TOURNEY.

WELLINGTON CENTRE'S ANNUAL CARNIVAL. WEBB THE WINNER, Betwoen 250 and 1100 bowlers assembled on tho Wellington Club's green last evening to witness tho final game of the Wellington Bowling Centre's annual tournament. The weather was perfect, and tho green in better condition than has been tho case for a fortnight past, though still inclined to bo heavy. It played very well indeed until tho sun went down, when it became appreciably slower, a fact which was shown by the iooso heads towards tho elo.-o ol the game. The honours rested between the Wellington Club rinks, skipped by G. B. Dall and P. Webb respectively, and tho result, to everyone's surprise, mas a runaway win for Webb, tho score being as fellows:— D. ll'Lean, Focke, Thompson, Webb (s.), 2!); Ledger, Hamilton, l'ortcous, Dall (s.), 15. . _ Tho game opened quietly with Dall scoring a single on tho first head. Webb got a lucky three on the second bead, and Dall another single on the third, llicn for five heads Dall's score remained unaltered, whilo Webb's men piled on a three, two, three, live, and a two, beginning tho score oil the eighth head to Then Ball got a good three by trailing the jack back with a magnificent shot, but Webb, who was playing a very line drawiug game; was not to bo denied, and with the valuable assistance of a good rink, scored on six of tho remaining heads, with Dall chipping in with a one or two on tho others. Tho. game never looked in doubt for a moment. Dall, though ho played a good game, was not in his usual form, and his rink did n y "early as well as Webb's. Ledger (load) was his best mail. Tocke, Webb's no. 2, played the game of his life, anil was irequeiitly applauded for liis iacknnaing propensities. Tho latter half of Iho game was robbed of all interest bv' tno big lead which Webb established, and it was a very thin crowd which saw the game out.
