New Zealand..:, The firm, winch now has branches iu Wellington, Oamarn, limaru, Jnvercargill, aud Nelson, in addition to the handsome and commodious promises of its headquarters in Diinedin, was established half a century ago by the late . Mr. Charles Begg, a native of Aberdeen, who sailed from Glasgow for New Zealand -in, the ship Bobert Henderson, early in the.year. 1861, and arrived at Dunedin ou October 8 of that yean. Commencing as a timer, he soon established himself in his trade as a manufacturer of pianos, but owing to tho lack ■ of a. veneer-cutter and other tools nccestary to turn out the class of ment he wished his name, to he a ted with, he ■ gave tip piano-buildin" and became an importer. Since ' those early days, the firm has never looked back It has become steadily prosperon= and with the growth of tho Dominion has expanded into one of tho foremost businesses of the kind in New Zealand The brochure, which is freely and artistically illustrated, contains photograohs of the late.llr. Begg, Mr. Alexander Begg (managing director), Mr. Charles Begg (manager), . Mr. Charles Kerr (secre. ta'ry), the various" places' of ' busi. ness all over the colony, and group' pictures of the .various staffs. As is well known, Messrs. Begg and Co. have jiist erected a modern music warehouse in Manners Stroet, which is equipped in the latest style to cope with the firm's large and increasing business' in this island.
