The bowliug: tournament was completed to-day, with the exception of the champion "rinks, which will be'played between Stevenson (Taieri) and Carswell (Taieri) at a later date. The C rinks were won by Mucfarlane (St. Kilda), with M'Gallon (Sydenham) second. The singles were won by Bentley (Dunedin). with M'llwritli (Dunedin) second. The B doubles were- won by Foster and Bentley (Dunedin), with 'Mclvillo arid SandeTS (Kaituna) second, anil the C doubles by Walker and Clark (St. Kilda), with Pritchard and Spiller (Sydenham) second. The leading teams at 1.30 this morning had covered one thousand two hundred and eleven miles. A large crowd constantly watches the contest. (Rec. January 4, 9.20 p.m.) Sydney, January 4. At five o'clock to-night the cyclists had covered U2S miles. There is no chango in the positions. The Sydney "Telegraph" of December '30 states':—
Without the least exaggeration, it may bo said of the best half-dozen teams in the big race that no better teams ever took part in a six days' race in any.other part of the world. Lawson (U.S.A.), Mitten (U.S.A.), C-oulett, Hehir, and Gordon Walker have all Tidden in several of tho Yankee races, and gained renown. Of the U2 hour records for six days' racing, Hehir, with Pye as a toam-mate, still holds 22 of, them, while Lawson and Mitten also hold a number of them. All the above-mentioned riders arc awarded a place when a selection of tho h dozen riders in tho world to-day is being made, and they are all taking part in Sydney's first sis days' race". Add to them riders like Grenda (Australian mile champion), E. .1. M'Xamara (regarded as the greatest all-round rider in Australia to-dav), Corry, Gascoyne (England), Lloyd, Kirkliam (tho greatest road rider Australia has ever produced), and it will be seen that the field is a very fine one, and should be responsible for putting up a big mileage for their six days' riding.
The following are tho prises:—First, .£300; sw;ond, .£200; third, .£100; fourth, <£75; fifth, jtoO; sixth, sevonth, and eighth, each .£25.
The above prizes cut up j>9so, and, in addition, each of the other teams unplaced, completing the journey, and riding a minimum of 1800 miles, will receive a special prize uf .£lO.
