SUMMARY AND FORECAST. Present indications arc [or strong southerly winds backing to westerly and northerly soon. Tho weather will probably be warmer and fair for a. thort time Kenerally, but changeable and showery conditions are likely to prevail on the West Coast and southernmost districts of the South Island, and cloudy skies at times elsewhere. Little change is anticipated in barometric pressure at present, but is likely to decrease again after about 24 hours. Heavy rain showers fell generally last night, and electrical disturbances occurred in 6ome parU. Tho wiuds have since changed to southerly, and freshened, and the weather, though cooler, has improved to-day with a rising barometer. B. V. PEMBEKTON. Feilding, January 4.—Bain in the night; fine day and night, but strong, disagreeable wind. Shannon, January 4.—The weather is fine and breezy. Featherston, January 4.—Overcast; southerly wind. Grcytown, January 4—The weather changed last niKht, and a fair quantity of rain fell. The weather is cold to-day, and more rain is probable. Hustings, January I.—The weather to-day has been dry, windy, and dusty.
