'~ .NERVOUS . . BREAKDOWN ".. ■ CANNOT BE "CURED BY TONICS, DRUGS, OR JIEDICINES. ■•' Nothing so remarkable as the unanimity with which eminent doctors and scientists from all parts of the world declare that medicines and tonics are absolutely' useless—in fact, harmful—in the treatment of Nervous Disorders; and that permanent'relief can alone bo found in specially selected nerve nutrition has ever Tjeeu know.n..in...the..history of the Art of Healing.:. Medical men have long. -realised that the" man "of Woman with a weakened nervous' system can only.recoups lost energy by supplying" the nerves with the special food essential to their irellbeing, viz.. Lecithin.- :. . ' Lecithin forms the principnl substance of the Brain Cells, Spinal Marrow, and Nc.r-e Tissues, and is contained in the blood milk) eggs, as well as in vegetable and animal organisms. But Lecithin constitutes one of tho most - sensitive organic elements, easily neutralised by bacteriological and chemical action, and although its .value as the natural nervo an'brain food has been known for a generation , past, the means of administering it in a pure and assimilable form have not been attained, until after years of research work Dr. Hartmann, of Berlin, was enabled to produce a preparation containing a perfectly nure, isolated and actively organic Lecithin in a highly-assimilable form. The announcement of the discovery under tho name.of ANTINEURASTHIN, claiming, as it did, to have overcome what had up to the moment been considered un insurmountable obstacle in tho treatment of nervous disease and irregularities created considerable interest amongst medical men and scientists on the Continent. In order to place tho certainty of tho discovery beyond all doubt, Dr. Hartmann agreed to most drastic tests being carried out by independent authorities, and as being one of the greatest authorities on nerve and brain diseases, DR. LION, DIRECTOR OF..THE . IMPERIAL STATE HOSPITAL I'OR EPILEPTICS AT ST. PETERSBURG, was chosen to carry out tho investigation. Dr. Lion selected from the Slate Hospital several cases which were looked upon as HOPELESS OF CURE, and in the short space of two weeks showed tho astonishing results embodied in , the report given below. CASE I. Student, 19 years of age, representing a typical case, of Neurasthenia; general emaciation, weakness, inertia, as a "rule depressed mental condition, extreme irritability, violence, changeable and abru pi humour, inability to work persistently, rapid fatigue, weakness of memory, loss of appetite, tendency to constipation, insomnia. After having taken Dr. Hartmann's "Antineurasthin"' for a fortnight the results Were us follow: I'irstly, an increased appetite and sleep were observed, in addition constipation had disappeared and so had his tendency to tire rapidly of his work, thus -producing an increase in his working capacity. His temper has become more equable, calm, persistent, and generally his self-confidence has remarkably improved. CASE 11. ' The patient, a. girl, 10 years of age, is suffering from hysteria, which shows itself in. a general state of Nervousness, sudden changes in her disposition, she frequently has crying and laughing spasms, and now and then is subject to convulsive fits. This is due to hereditary causes. General emaciation and weakness, loss' of appetite and even aversion to food. Obstinate constipation. After taking Dr. Hartmann's "Antineurasthin," three tablets a day for a fortnight, the results are as follow: visible generally improved'nutrition, considerably improved appetite and disappearance of constipation. The skin and 'mucous membranes have assumed a more normal colour. The-patient is feeling much better and much, more cheerful. She is less excited than before by her surroundings; ' and, 7 in consequence, her disposition is more even and quiet. ."''. .. .. '. CASE 111. There are some indications of an affection of the right apexes.of the lungs, vesicular breathing, slight dullness, accelerated respiration, now and then in the evening a slight rise Of temperature. No tuberculosus bacilli are found in the-sputum. . .-...-. For, a fortnight the patient was given, three tablets-daily of Dr. Hartmann's "Antineurasthin. The .result:, an improvement in her general-condition as regards appetite and-slecp and a. certain increase of strength. Particularly striking, however, is the change- in- the self-confiden'ce of tho patient; her dejected mood has given place to a cheerful and.livelj-frame of mind. The tendency to constipation has also'become-less. ■ -.-..;.. .- The patient, a female, 28 years of.age, is suffering from epilepsy.
