There were 8 births, t death, and 5 marriages registered in Cartertoa during December. The figures for the twelve months were:—Birllis, 105; deaths, 20; marriages, 39. The previous year's figures are:—Births, 120; deaths, 22; marriages, The local Fire Brigade have been granted permission to liold an art union in connection with their forthcoming bazaar. The criminal statistics for the district of Carterton for the quarter ended Septem- 1 bor 30, 1911, are:—Arrested, 15; summoned, 9; committed for trial, 1; summary couvictions, 2.'); offences against the person, 1; drunkenness, 12; other offences, 10; fined, 5; imprisonment in lieu of fine, 1; peremptory imprisonment, 1; orders made, 3; convicted and discharged, 10.
