At the end of last year there were 104 trades unions in operation in New South Wales, with a membership of 110,OOfl. Thirty-one now unions were established, and fourteen disbanded. Monday's train traffic showed an increase of 192,000 over the previous year. The rainfall during the past year over five-sixths of the State was above the average and the best for ten years past. During the past year 2077 persons were naturalised iu the Commonwealth. , Melbourne, January 3. The rateable property in Melbourne during the past year increased by .£4,770,000. The rainfall in the city .last year was 36.01 inches, the greatest since 1849. The census returns disclose that there arc 2,313,035 males and 2,141,970 females in the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth revenue for the first six months shows an increase of .£571,233, as compared with the previous corresponding period. Perth, January 2. The gold yield for the.year was 1,497,308 ounces, valued at .£5,143,191. Hobart, January 2. Tasmania's exports last year were valued at .£4,005,000. an increase of ,£814,000. Trade generally showed a steady increase.
