A DOCTOR SHOT DEAD.
HE REFUSED TO PRESCRIBE WHISKY. By Teleeraph—Press Association—Copyrleht (Rec. January 3, 1.15 a.m.) New York, January 2. Enraged because of a refusal to issue a prescription ordering a pint of whisky, a man named Hatfield shot dead Dr, Thornton, a well-known physician at Charlston, West Virginia. The latter was attending an injured person when he was killed. Hatfield fled, but was captured. For fear o£ lynching, a force of sheriffs aro guarding the prison.
