A NEW AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND CABLE. Bj Teleernph-Press Aesociation-Copyrieht Melbourne, January 2.' The Postmaster-General states that unless further concessions than the reduced rates for deferred .cables aro speedily forthcoming, the Government will press for a subsidiary conference to consider the question of the nationalisation of the Atlantic cable. Tho Pacific Cable Board lias informed the Commonwealth Government that a new Australia-New Zealand cable would cost ,£155,000. Tho total value of the New Zealand cable traffic is ,£30,000 yearly. Of this, the board, working one cable, has been handling .£20,000. , By reductions of staff and other economies a new cable would eave ,£6OOO per annum. It will be laid this year. '
