THE TRIPOLI WAR.
NOT NEARLY OVER. THE GERMAN STYLE COPIED. DARING ATTACKS. Bj Teleerapn—Press Association-Copyright (Rec. January 2, 11.15 p.m.) Tripoli, January 2. Marconi inspected the wireless stations at Tobruk, Derna, and Benghazi and ho is satisfied with their eflicie'ncy. The weather piovents aeroplane reconnaissances and tho rough seas are unfavourable to the landing of further troops. Forty thousand Italians are therefore idle. General Rocchi is completing the defences of Ainzara. Turkish scouting parties often approach close t> Ainzara. The Turks recently strongly reinforced their headquarters" at Aziziah or Zebea. Enver Bey's camp is seventeen miles east of Benghazi, ■ tho tents covering a front of four miles. Several daring attacks have been made particularly on the oasis near Benghazi, where the best wells in the districts are situated. An aviator discovered that Enver Bey's attacking formation includes a strong detachment. Both wings are similar to Von der Goltz's doublo enveloping attack at the German manoeuvres in September. In the attacks on fortified positions at Benghazi, great bravery has been shown. The attacks are apparently due to tho necessity for keeping the Arabs employed. Enver Bey states that he will not make peace, even if the Turkish Government consents. The Arabs cannot be induced to lay down their arms. v Berlin, January 2. Writing in the "Neue Freie Presse," Von der Goltz thinks the Turks- arc gaining an inestimable advantage, since the war has cemented the confraternity of tho Turks and Arabs. He approves of the tactics in enticing the Italians into the interior. It is, he thinks, only the beginning of a long and obstinate war.
