The Hon. E. Mitchclson. SIY.C, of Auckland, passed through Wellington yesterday, en route for. Christchurch, where lie is to attend a sitting of the Christchurch Canal Commission. Henare Parata iias been asked by some of his European friends and Maoris to contest one of thp Native scats at the next election, whenever it may. come along, and he has practically promised to stand as a Reform party candidate. Sir. Parata is a son of Sir. T. Parata, and an older brother of Sir. C. K. Parata, St.P. Ho has been H years chairman of the School Board at Papawai, and was the lato chief- Slahupuku's right-hand supporter. Sir. Henry Bracy, the veteran tenor and stage manager with .T. C. Williamson, Ltd., has been seriously ill. At. the latest report ho was slowly recovering.
