A DEFINITE STATEMENT.
LABOUR SOLID AGAINST WARD. WHERE ME.. ROBERTSON STANDS. Mr. J. Robertson, M.P. for Otaki, is a visitor to Wellington. Speaking to a Dominion" representative ho stated that at tho conference of Labour members held in Wellington last week all three— Jlc3srs. Robertson, Vcitch, and Hindmarsh—unanimously agreed to voto against t'-3 Ward Government on a straight-out "no-conlidence" motion. "Understand," said Mr. Robertson, "this docs not mean that I am working With Jlr. Masscy, but that first and before all I am sticking to the pledge mado on the platform. What I may do in regard to voting on legislative measures, is a personal matter." "What I. would liko to mako clear," continued Mr. Robertson, "is that 1 am in- no way connected with tho Socialist Party, nor was my candidature endorsed by that party in any way. That I may bo a Socialist in tho broad senso of tho Trord is another and a personal matter. I stood as tho nominee of the Manawatu I'laxmill Employees' Union, which decided by ballot somo time ago to affiliate with the Now Zealand Federation of Labour. That is the only possiblo way in which I can be connected with that federation*.".—.... . ~... ... .
