DROWNED IN AUCKLAND MAR BOUR. .t ~ -
(By Association.) Auckland, December 29. A trimmer named William Drown, from tho steamer Opawa, was drowned in the harbour late last night. Deceased was going aboard tho ship, and fell from tho gangway iuto the water. All efforts" to savo him failed. Brown was 27 voavs ef age. lie was a u.itivo of .Scotland, and joined the Opawa at Wellington this trip.
FOUND DEAD. Oamaru, December 23. John Steele, shearer, aged about 50 veai's. was found dead in his bed ut 'the Otematamah shearing t Sheds this morning. There was nothing to indicalo the cause of death.

Ho hastened off for another doctor to perform an operation, but before they could return Shaw was dead. < GAVE NO REASON. Dunedin, December 29. A single man named George Chandler, employed by Mr. Robert Bell, a farmer of Waihola, disappeared on Wednesday nighl, and to-day his dead body was found hanging to a tree in a bush on tho iarm. Deceased told bis sister a lewdays previously that he intended to do awuv with himself, but guv© no reason.
