MISSIONS TO SEAMEN
■ A service was licit] in Hid Missions to Seamen' Church on Christmas morning, a lnrge congregation being'present:. 31 r. V. S. Shell, the 'Missioiior, was the preacher, Mr. J. S. Cummings read , the lessons, and Jlr. Gurdner presided at (ho organ. AH kinds of parlour games were hold in the Institute in the afternoon and evening, the sailors entering in with a good deal of energy. An all-day picnic was held in the Institute on Boxing Duy, under the direction ot (lie 3rissioner. The following wem prizes:—Messrs. I'itton, Whaler, Welsh, Sullivan, Burton, Sullivan, Connor, ■ Morns, and Williams. In the evening a limelight lantern exhibition, .was given by Mi'. 0; W. Barltiop.ii «ood audience beiiiff present, bcrernl views of scenery in New Zealand were shown, and Mr. K. L. liurgcss read pickens's "Clirislmas Carol," which was illustrated on the screen. The prizes which were won during the day were presented lo the winners by Mrs. M'Gerrngle, in the absence of the donors, Messrs.' Altlous and K. Anderson. Lunch unci tea for the picnic were provided by the congregation and friends of the mission. Henrty cheers were given to Mr. Barltrop and to all who had assisted during the picnic.
